Deuteronomy 4:34-35 (KJV) Or hath God assayed to go and take him a nation from the midst of another nation, by temptations, by signs, and by wonders, and by war, and by a mighty hand, and by a stretched out arm, and by great terrors, according to all that the LORD your God did for you in Egypt before your eyes? Unto thee it was shewed, that thou mightest know that the LORD he is God; there is none else beside him.
Christian friend, here is another great lesson for us to learn. I’d like to share some application with you from this O.T Text although it was written in context unto the nation of Israel, not the N.T Church. Hey Christian friend, once again I’d like to remind you of the main purpose for signs, wonders & miracles. God sought to reveal His power through these mediums so that Israel “mightest know that the LORD he is God”. Likewise for our N.T apostles sent on behalf of our Saviour, the Lord confirmed His power & word through them by employing these things so that Israel would know that He was God (Mark 16:19-20). Don’t let anyone fool you believer, into thinking that those signs are still required for us today, because they are not. Scripture has been fully revealed unto mankind 1st through Israel (O.T), then through the Church (N.T). We no longer need to be convinced that God is speaking to establish His word, He’s perfectly preserved His word for us to meditate on & obey to strengthen that power in us, in our King James Bible for the English speaking world.
